My solution will utilize GIS in combination with available open data sets to improve healthcare surveillance. Public health resources, specific diseases and other health events can be mapped in relation to their surrounding environment and existing health and social infrastructures. Available open data will be integrated with information that describes specific geographical areas to monitor ongoing effect of health events and to monitor coverage area – working areas, residential areas – that are affected by certain endemic or epidemic diseases.
