As a social innovation center, Twende empowers people to design and make technologies that solve local community challenges. We want to organize and share data about who is making what technologies, so local users can connect with local innovators, and an appropriate technology marketplace can be established in Tanzania.
Develop and encourage linkages between young people and economic opportunities
MakerSoko is a public website for Tanzanian-based makers to showcase their technologies that solve challenges typically found in Tanzanian communities. Tanzanians looking for ways to save or generate time and money can use MakerSoko to freely contact innovators to purchase technologies made in Tanzania for Tanzanians. MakerSoko online will be supplemented by a physical exhibition in Arusha during Nane Nane (1-10 August 2018), to raise awareness of the website for both technology developers and users.
